Becki Newton
The birthplace of Becki Newton was New Haven, Connecticut, Becki Newton was raised in Guilford, Connecticut. Becki Newton is of English descendance. Newton moved from Penn to New York City after graduation and began working in TV commercials, including Olive Garden. Newton portrayed the character Amanda Tanen in the comedy-drama program Ugly Betty from 2006 to the year 2010. Newton hosted the Official Ugly Betty podcast alongside her co-star Michael Urie. She was also a part of ABC.com's Mode After Hours webisode series. Ugly Betty was canceled in the year 2010 following four seasons of success and the show was able to be given a full-on series end. In the latter part of 2009, Newton took part in an New York City Center Encores! Jerry Zaks was the director of this Gershwin production, Girl Crazy. She portrayed Molly Gray and performed opposite real-life husband Chris Diamantopoulos. Newton starred in the television show Love Bites. Cindy Chupack created the hour-long romantic comedy. She worked as an executive producer on Sex and the City. NBC picked up the series in the month of May, 2010; however, due to Newton's announcement about her pregnancy Jordana Spiro's contract requiring her to be on the show with My Boys, which was pulled later on, as well as Chupack wanting to leave Love Bites, the premiere was pushed back to midseason.
