Maureen Denise McCormick is the only child and youngest daughter of Richard McCormick. She was born on August 5th, 1956 in Woodland Hills. Her father worked as a teacher, and her mother was an at-home mother. Michael, Dennis and Kevin are her three older brothers. McCormick started performing and singing in her early years. McCormick would also perform for neighborhood kids. When McCormick was 6, she won at the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley pageant. Pat Domigan from the Jack Wormser Agency called her to ask if it could be possible to enter the entertainment industry. Her first major role came in 1964 when she appeared in a commercial featuring Mattel's new doll "Baby Pattaburp". Later that year, she starred in another commercial for Mattel's "Chatty Chatty" doll and was soon included in the show"Wind It up until It Breaks, which was staged at the Playhouse in La Jolla Playhouse. McCormick was a candidate for the role in the show 'The Brady Bunch.' She got selected out of over 1,200 other children to portray the larger of the two girls in the TV show The Brady Bunch. Florence Henderson was the lead in the role of newlyweds. Robert Reed portrayed the blended family. The show ran for five seasons. McCormick disclosed in the book Here's the story of her life: Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published 2008) that it was her fifth-season of the TV show that she was close to losing her virginity. The actress was sixteen years old and the actor was aged 19. "It could have been a possibility," she said, "but it was not the time suitable the way it was for us."
